Senior Producer

Deeplocal is looking for a Senior Producer to join our fast growing team.

A Senior Producer acts as a partner to the creative team, participates in concept development, and is involved in pitches through production. He or she is the person responsible for the direct, hands-on leadership and quality execution of all Deeplocal activities during an engagement. The Senior Producer is responsible for the deliverables and the teams that produce them, ensuring that the client’s objectives and Deeplocal's goals on the engagement are met. He or she will lead the development of the project approach and plan and will be responsible for delivering the project on time, within budget, and to Deeplocal’s high-quality standards.

The Deeplocal Senior Producer must have a strong leadership presence with their client counterpart and with the internal project teams. The Senior Producer is accountable for all the interdependent elements of the multi-disciplinary engagement, for meeting contractual milestones, managing client expectations, and for producing high-quality results on time and within budget. He or she builds relationships with counterparts on the client engagement team, is proactive in managing risks, removes tactical barriers to success, clearly communicates project status to all stakeholders, and maintains a positive working environment for the Deeplocal team.

The Senior Producer will be responsible for supporting the Director of Production by sharing accountability for the client engagement, account growth, project scoping/delivery, new business scoping/delivery and internal resourcing. The Senior Producer is focused on the day-to-day activities of the team, coordinating the team’s efforts towards a successful delivery of the client’s engagements. He/she should also be comfortable producing a project independently without support from junior staff. This position is located in Pittsburgh, PA, but there will be regular travel required for projects and events.

The Senior Producer is held accountable to the responsibilities listed below:

Creative Communication

  • Production Meetings - Developing concepts in response to a brief alongside members of the creative team and engineers.
  • Pitch Creation - Being responsible for the on-time development of creative pitch decks including securing assets, doing appropriate research.
  • Creative Strategy - Carrying out creative vision by providing clear directives to internal team.

Client Communication

  • Client Advocacy and Communication - Acting as advocate and daily point of contact for Client throughout projects. Communicating with Client on a regular basis regarding project updates and schedule changes. Addressing Client needs and managing Client expectations during production and, if applicable, during installations and live events. Traveling when necessary to attend Client meetings and support live events.
  • Expense Reporting - Reporting time and materials expenses to Client, as required by retainer contracts or statements of work.
  • Change Orders - Tactfully and carefully communicating to Client when requests fall outside of scope. Requesting and processing change orders when reasonable and necessary.

Production: High-Level

  • Defining Deliverables - Working in tandem with Account Strategist to define project deliverables to be used in scopes of work. Vetting deliverables with all stakeholders.
  • Developing Budgets - Developing robust, complete internal project budgets to be used as the basis for scope of work budgets and project health tracking. Vetting project budgets with team leads before submitting for stakeholder review and approval.
  • Project Scheduling and Timeline - Developing production schedules that guide projects, vetting the schedule with stakeholders, communicating the schedule to team members, being accountable for schedule shifts during production.
  • Creative, Technical, and Logistical Awareness - Understanding team’s creative, design, technical, and logistical challenges across mediums. Communicating project status, needs, and challenges to Account Strategist and Creative and Technical Leads to reach joint consensus on appropriate next steps.
  • Project Team Oversight - Running team meetings (including detailed note taking), facilitating communication between team members, resolving disputes, escalating issues when necessary. Working with team leads to adjust team makeup as needed.

Production: Details

  • Logistics and Coordination - Coordinating all logistics related to the project, production, or event
  • Sourcing - Sourcing necessary materials for productions where appropriate.
  • Time Management - Tracking team member hours and reporting weekly to the Director of Production.
  • Expense Management ·- Tracking project expenses and reporting weekly to the Director of Production. Reconciling all project expenses with Finance on a monthly basis.
  • Vendor and Freelancer Management - Managing vendors and freelancers used for production. Sourcing and recommending vendors to Director of Production for approval. Tracking vendor hours. Ensuring all vendors are under contract, and the proper procedure for contract negotiations is followed
  • Team Support and Growth - Providing leadership and guidance to producers to ensure client projects are well-organized, on brief, on time, and on budget, from kickoff through delivery.

Required Experience:

Client Management:

-Minimum 5-8 years client management experience, including demonstrated ability to have built a relationship with a new client and to have cultivated and grown that relationship over time.

-Demonstrated success in coordinating project efforts of several innovation/product projects of a complex nature with a short timeline.

Team Management:

-Minimum 3-5 years team management experience, including leadership of a large (10+ person) cross-competency (e.g., technology, design, UX, product, innovation) team across a suitable range of project types (tech-heavy, design-intensive, etc.)

-Evidence of successful team leadership across multiple project lifecycles

-Demonstrated ability to train and mentor entry and mid-level Producers

Project Management/Production:

-Minimum 5-8 years project management/production experience in a client-service environment; live event/installation experience strongly preferred.

-Proficiency in formal project management methods, including internal documentation and external communications

-Demonstrated ability to accurately project timing and associated costs across a range of project type, scale, and complexity

-Experience-honed approach to risk aversion, risk management, and change control

A Bachelor’s degree is required, and a degree or experience in Art, Design, Engineering or Fabrication is helpful.
