QA and Support Lead, Gumband – Remote or Pittsburgh

Deeplocal is hiring a Quality Assurance and Support Lead for Gumband, a first-of-its-kind IoT platform for managing interactive environments and experiences.

Gumband is a cloud-based software platform with optional hardware that’s being incubated within Deeplocal. The product is backed by WPP, the world’s largest holding company of global agencies that specialize in advertising, communications, technology, and commerce. This role presents a unique opportunity to build and launch Gumband with the benefit of tapping into Deeplocal’s expertise as an interactive experience developer for some of the world’s top brands, including Google, Facebook, TikTok, and others.

The QA and Support Lead is accountable for managing quality across the software development lifecycle and owning customer support mechanisms for the Gumband platform. This position reports to the Gumband Product Manager and sits on the Product Engineering Team.

 

Responsibilities

  • Develop, document, and facilitate testing at all layers of the technical stack including but not limited to unit, regression, load, penetration, and chaos testing
  • Identify, isolate, and track bugs in platform code, both pre-release and production, while working with both the development team to resolve issues and the infrastructure team to deploy fixes
  • Inform standards around code quality and processes for software development and deployment
  • Interface with customers, their project teams, and our internal team to manage and triage support tickets
  • Create process around customer support, ultimately building and managing a team of L1 support technicians
  • Develop and maintain relevant critical measurements to inform business decisions around the platform’s software stack, development processes, and customer success
  • Update public-facing developer documentation and platform changelogs
  • Constantly learn and keep current with software industry trends to surface new ideas and inform the team

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field involving systems engineering and/or 3-5 years working of practical, hands-on experience in the field
  • Working knowledge of current software development languages (ie. Node.js, Python), SQL databases (ie. PostgreSQL), containers and orchestration tools (ie. Docker, Kubernetes), CI/CD pipelines, distributed cloud systems (ie. Google Cloud Platform), Unix/Linux operating systems, and computer networking
  • Proficiency with a Git workflow, linting, unit testing, and CI/CD pipelines
  • Experience with issue ticketing software and incident management techniques
  • Ability to analyze usage data to provide key insights about Gumband
  • Excited by new challenges, “startup” environments, and wearing many hats
  • Comfortable handling challenging problems and working towards a systematic solution
  • Creative thinker and problem solver; flexible and adaptable; takes ownership of problems and their solutions

 

This position is open to remote candidates outside of Pittsburgh, PA, but candidates must be willing to travel to Pittsburgh and/or client locations as required for engineering and support efforts. Travel time is expected to be approximately 10%.

This cloud-based software tool with optional hardware helps developers and operators manage all parts of their interactive environment on one platform.
