Senior Creative Designer / Creative Director, Design (San Francisco, CA)

Deeplocal is looking for a Creative Director, Design (SF) to join our newly formed outpost in Sausalito, CA. This office is an extension of Deeplocal’s larger team, which is based in Pittsburgh, PA.

The Creative Director will be responsible for leading creative projects from brief to launch that are driven by the visual story.

The Creative Director will provide strong leadership and creative vision, working with story and technology team members, as well as production teams, to develop, vet and sell winning concepts to clients. This position requires strength in the areas of concepting, art direction, spatial and experience design, and interaction design, and will work closely with Deeplocal’s internal creative and engineering teams as well as with clients and multiple external partners.

Deeplocal is not an advertising agency, and we pride ourselves on creating work that has never been seen before. Our innovations are uniquely effective, and get people talking, because they live at the intersection of story, design and technology. The Creative Director will collaborate with a creative team that comes from varied backgrounds, working together in service of the insight and the idea. As such, the ideal candidate should be idea driven, demonstrate strong leadership skills, and have a good understanding of how to take a concept from pitch to reality. He/she must understand the intersection of creative and technology, and what it takes to execute the team's vision.

The Creative Director at Deeplocal is held responsible for the accountabilities listed below:

  • Generate and Present Creative Pitches - Generate ideas personally and from the wider Deeplocal team and build them out from one-liners to pitch-ready concepts, in the form of a creative deck. Work alongside of team members from story & engineering.
  • Create Sketches, Renders, Diagrams, and Other Art - Generate images to support and communicate creative concepts.
  • Art Direction - After an idea is sold, define the specifics of the execution, with input from members of the engineering and story teams, then act as Art Director through production.
  • Build Client Relationships  -  Both during the concepting phase and after, be a reliable partner for clients and inspire them with the creative vision.

The ideal candidate for this role will have a minimum of 8 years of experience working as an Art Director, Creative Director, Design Lead (or higher) or in a similar capacity in industrial design, architecture, or other physical + interaction design disciplines. Experience working in a small team is highly preferred.

Must have experience presenting directly to clients. A portfolio of past work is required.
