Integration Engineer

Deeplocal is seeking full-time Integration Engineers (of various experience levels) to architect and engineer beautiful, interactive exhibits and objects for the world’s leading technology brands.

With an understanding of software, electronics, and mechanical movements, Integration Engineers transform theoretical creative ideas into real, functioning electromechanical objects and installations—under short, fixed timelines. This role designs the intelligent integrated system from the start of the production process and remains a critical leader on the team through project delivery.

The ideal candidate for this position cares deeply about the quality of their work, desires a sense of project ownership, can break down and solve problems, and has an eye for good aesthetic design. Qualified candidates may come from backgrounds in robotics, integrated engineering and design, or a hybrid of disciplines such as interaction design, architecture, electrical and electronics engineering, software engineering, and mechanical engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Architects and engineers integrated systems that combine software, electronics, and mechanical movements
  • Delivers functional, reliable systems. Is aware of component integration, selects appropriate communication platforms, and identifies potential risks
  • Adapts and modifies best practice testing and Q/A to fit aggressive project timelines. Minimizes risk without missing project deadlines
  • Supports and commissions projects on site—performing on-the-ground debugging and technical problem solving of electromechanical and software systems while remaining calm and positive
  • Travels 15-20% of the year, sometimes internationally—ranging from brief two day trips to longer two week trips
  • Fabricates parts to the appropriate tolerances and finishes when necessary
  • Accurately assembles and directs the assembly of electromechanical systems

About Deeplocal

Deeplocal is a creative engineering company based in Pittsburgh PA. We are reinventing marketing by creating story-driven interactive experiences and objects using emerging technology. Our clients are some of the world’s most loved brands, such as Google, Nike, and Netflix.

Our team is made up of exceptionally talented, highly motivated people who are experts in the fields of marketing, design, fabrication, and engineering (robotics, software, mechanical, electrical, aerospace, hybrid design / engineers...you name it).

We love to make inventions. We made a machine that chalked Tweets on the roads of the Tour de France. We designed a miniature golf course that responds to your voice commands. We engineered a bunch of parked cars to use their horns and alarm sounds to play Despacito. We built a giant, interactive wall out of thousands of arcade buttons that responds when you touch it. We created a robot that makes you a custom cocktail and serves up a side of chit chat while you wait.

Deeplocal has been behind some of the industry’s most talked about campaigns: Netflix Socks, Nike Chalkbot, Lyft Auto Tunes, and more. We also build innovative experiences and products for the tech industry’s biggest conferences, and for office and retail spaces around the globe.

Our studio is in a renovated brewery loft in Sharpsburg, PA, just outside of downtown Pittsburgh and right across the river from Lawrenceville. We have snacks, a pool table, and a 12,000 square foot fabrication shop.

We’ve been named Best Places to Work in Western PA four times. Our founder was named CEO of the Year by the Pittsburgh Technology Council last year. Our work has been featured on Fast Company, Wired, NYTimes, USA Today, the Today Show, Good Morning America, Gizmodo, Engadget, Forbes, and many more.
